Description

Old Bank House is an 18th-century building of red brick, originally facing the churchyard. The main facade has five windows and is two storeys high, with a basement and attics. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are three dormers with segmental arches. The windows are sash windows, with the ground floor windows having segmental heads and keystones, and retaining their original glazing bars. A projecting porch with square stone supports and six steps leads to the main entrance. The basement is of painted stone with casement windows. A stone doorway with a segmental arch and keystone is found on the west side. A wrought iron bracket originates from the left-hand end of the house. Old Bank House forms a group with Nos 1 and 25 Market Place, and a group with the Church and its Gateway when considered alongside No. 25 Market Place.
