Description
6 and 8 Fortuneswell are a pair of houses built around 1820 to 1830. They are constructed of stone rubble and have a stuccoed front with decorative plat bands. The houses feature a late 19th-century slate roof and brick ridge and end stacks. The design includes a double-depth plan with three storeys and a four-window front. The outer doors are panelled and set in heavy tripartite frames with sidelights and fanlights. The windows are margin-pane sashes, with two prominent two-storey canted bays in the centre. At the rear left, there is a two-storey wing with a hipped slate roof, brick walls, and glazing bar sashes. The interior has not been inspected. A stone-coped stone rubble wall is attached to pyramidal-capped ashlar gatepiers on the left side of No. 8. These houses are included for their group value with No. 4.
