Description
The Wimborne Conservative Club, located at No 10 West Borough, is a building from the late 18th to early 19th century. It features brick walls and a slate roof that is hidden behind a parapet. The structure stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a moulded platband at the first-floor level. The central section of the facade is distinguished by a pediment that rises above the main parapet.
The entrance is centrally located and consists of double raised panel doors framed by a classical surround. Above the doors is a fanlight with ornamental glazing, topped by a broken pediment and supported by Tuscan pilasters. The ground floor includes four round-headed double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, which are set in arched recesses featuring gauged brick arches and stone imposts. The first and second floors each have five double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, while the attic, located within the pediment, has a round-headed window with glazing bars.
The interior of the building retains several notable features, including good panelled doors with reeded architraves and ornamental plaster cornices. The staircase is adorned with a wrought iron balustrade designed in a "Gothic" style. This building is recognized for its architectural significance.
