Description
Kimmeridge Farm House is a farm house that likely dates from the late 17th century, with alterations and enlargements made in the 19th century. It features stone walls, with the south gable plastered, and a roof that is partly covered with stone slates and partly with tiles, along with brick stacks. The building has an H-shaped plan, with the main front range containing the original house and an added barn to the northeast. It is part two storeys and part two storeys with attics. The main elevation showcases three cross-gables and includes a part-glazed panelled door in a porch topped with a gabled stone slate roof. Above the door is a carved Coat of Arms belonging to the Mansel family. The ground floor has four segmental-headed double-hung sash windows with a central glazing bar, while the first floor features five similar windows. The attic contains three casement windows in the gables.
To the north of the main range is an outbuilding with stone walls and a tiled roof that has stone eaves courses, also two storeys high. A link block at the rear of the main range has plastered walls and a slate roof, with casement windows. The outbuilding range at the back consists of a granary above store rooms, featuring stone walls, a stone slate roof, and brick stacks, with casement windows. There are stone steps leading to the upper storey in both gable walls. Inside the main range, the ground floor rooms have chamfered ceiling beams. Additionally, there is a stone boundary wall along the lane, capped with flat stones, which likely dates from the 18th century.
