Description
The Old Parsonage, dated 1837, features stone walls and stone slate roofs with parapets on the gables. It has stone stacks with diagonally set shafts and is designed in a traditional style. The building is one storey with attics and has a T-shaped plan. The main southwest elevation includes a projecting gabled wing at the west end, with a porch at the angle that has a gabled roof. There is a ledged door set in a four-centred arch, topped by a carved date-stone inscribed "Lady Emily Septima Bingham, 1837". The ground floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and double-hung sashes. In the attic, there are two gabled dormers featuring mullioned windows with casements. The wing also has one three-light stone mullioned window with hoodmoulds on both the ground floor, which has double-hung sashes, and the attic, which has casements. Inside, the main staircase is notable for its plain square balusters and shaped spandril brackets. At the rear, there is a contemporary outbuilding, believed to be a former butler's cottage, which has stone walls, a stone slate roof, and a brick stack. This outbuilding is single storey.
