Description

North End Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with a mid-19th century extension to the north. It is constructed of ashlar and squared rubble, laid in courses, with a gable-ended stone-slate roof featuring stone copings and square finials. The building has symmetrical ashlar stacks on either side of the ridge at the gable ends, a chamfered plinth, and weathered, ovolo-moulded string courses.

The west front is symmetrical, comprising two storeys and attics with four bays. The windows are three-light, hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned with returned labels, although the upper floor outer bay windows are blocked. The attic windows have iron casements with leaded-lights, while the lower windows feature casements with horizontal glazing bars. A gabled central porch has a moulded, four-centred head within a square surround, and its gable is topped with stone coping and a square finial. The porch contains a 20th-century plank door.

On the east facade, there are two and three-light stone-mullioned windows and a stair tower. The two-storey 19th-century extension includes two-light leaded-light casements on the upper floor and three-light 20th-century casements on the ground floor. Inside, notable features include an open fireplace with a moulded, square-headed surround, oak panelled walls with a moulded cornice, two blocked open fireplaces, and an elm newel staircase.
