Description
Stockford is a detached house built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features plastered walls, a hipped thatched roof, and brick stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and includes an attached single-storey outbuilding that encloses three sides of a courtyard. Designed in the "Cottage Orne" style, Stockford is one storey with attics. The entrance is located in a 20th-century verandah with a tiled roof, which connects the main range to the outbuilding. The outbuilding has one pointed arched window and one casement window with diagonal glazing. To the right of the entrance, there is a bowed projection, added in the late 19th century, featuring a ground floor 4-light window with diagonal glazing and a pointed arched dormer with similar glazing. The garden front, which was symmetrical before the addition of the bow, has a projecting central bay with French doors on the ground floor and a pointed arched dormer with diagonal glazing in the attic. Each side of this central bay has one casement window with diagonal glazing and one dormer similar to that in the centre. The interior retains some original joinery and is described as picturesque.
