Description

Bethune is a 2-storey cottage dating from the 18th century, with a higher early to mid-19th century house adjoining to the west. The main front faces south-west, away from the road. The cottage features 2 window bays and is finished in stucco. It has 2-light casement windows and a later 19th century splayed bay with a flat roof on the left side of the ground floor. The entrance is through a wooden boarded door. The adjoining house to the west has 3 window bays, also stuccoed. Its windows are in frames, but the glazing bars are missing, and it has stuccoed lintels with small moulded motifs. The doorway on the right side has a moulded flat hood supported by shaped brackets, with a door in a moulded frame. This door is panelled, featuring 2 fielded panels, while the upper 4 panels are cut away and glazed.
