Description
Folke Manor is a country house that dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century for the east wing, while the majority of the house is from the 17th century, with some later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features gable-ended slate roofs with stone copings and brick stacks in various locations. It is designed in an L-plan and is mainly two storeys high with irregular fenestration. Most of the windows are 17th-century mullioned and mullioned and transomed, some of which have returned labels. There is a reset 15th-century window with two pointed lights located above the door, which has a four-centred head. The entrance features a two-storey gabled porch at the intersection of the two arms of the L, with a round-headed arch and a moulded keystone. Inside, there are several 17th-century four-centred moulded fireplaces, 17th-century doors, 17th-century panelling, and a 17th-century staircase with turned balusters, moulded handrails, and square newels that rise as round posts. The ceilings have moulded beams, and the roof trusses from the 15th or 16th century include braced collars and curved wind braces to the purlins.
