Description
53 and 54 Durweston is a row of four cottages that have been converted into two cottages, likely built in the mid-18th century. The exterior features rendered and white or colourwashed walls topped with a gable-ended thatched roof. There are brick stacks at various points along the ridge. The building has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of seven windows.
No. 56 has 19th-century sash windows with vertical glazing bars, while No. 54-55 features casement windows with horizontal glazing bars and a centrally located plank door. No. 53 is distinguished by two wrought-iron casements with leaded lights—three lights on the left and two on the right. To the right of these is a plank door with a flat hood supported by reused carved consoles, and adjacent to it is a two-light casement. Above, there are three 19th-century six-pane sash windows.
