Description
Blashenwell Farm House is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-18th century and was extended to the west in the late 18th century. The building features rubble stone walls and a concrete tile roof that has replaced the original stone slates. It has a T-shaped plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys tall.
The house includes a gabled porch with a flush panel door set in an opening with a stone lintel and brick jambs. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars, each positioned under stone relieving arches. The first floor mirrors this with two similar sash windows and features a gabled dormer that contains casement windows with glazing bars.
The right end extension, which was formerly a cheese room, has double doors that have replaced a window. The short rear wing is two storeys high and constructed in matching materials, with an additional lower-level extension that has part cob walls and a corrugated asbestos roof. Some windows in this area still have lead lights. There are also lean-to extensions at the rear of the main house and the rear wing, as well as a small lean-to at the right end of the house.
Inside, one ground floor room has a large built-up fireplace and features some chamfered ceiling beams. There is a slatted door at the rear of the cheese room, which is now part of the later lean-to.
