Description
The boundary wall and gutter flanking Tout Hill on the south side date back to 1615. This stone wall runs northwest down Tout Hill to the corner opposite the Old Parsonage and then continues slightly southwest to Nos 9, 10, and 11 Tout Hill. The wall has medieval origins but has been renewed and repaired in places. It is constructed of ashlar and rough ashlar, standing about 6 feet high or more, with stepped plinths on the northwest side, some of which are panelled. The southwest side of the wall is thinner and likely of more recent origin. A gutter lined with stone setts runs closely alongside the wall all the way around the hill.
