Description

The Barton is a house dating from the mid-18th century, located in Gillingham, Dorset. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble, with a gable-ended tiled roof and brick stacks positioned to the right and centre. The building is two storeys high and originally had a five-window front. The upper floor features three-light casement windows with glazing bars, and a central bulls-eye window. The ground floor to the right incorporates a 19th-century canted bay shop front with elliptically headed lights. Other ground floor windows are two and three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. A 20th-century part-glazed door is on the right side, and a six-panel door is centrally located within a 19th-century lattice porch.
