Description
Nos 9 and 11 on West Street are a pair of buildings constructed after 1731. They are three stories tall and feature a seven-window façade made of dark red brick, with lighter red rubbed brick window arches. No 11 has an attractive enriched modillion cornice, while No 9 has had this cornice replaced with a cement course and a flat roof. This alteration disrupts the cornice line and affects the overall appearance of the Grade I group. The buildings have modern shop fronts, and No 11 previously had a shop front likely from the late 19th century. Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and the Crown and Anchor Public House are part of a cohesive group.
