Description
Nos 1 and 3 West Street is a post-1731, three-storey building with a five-window front, constructed of typical brickwork. It features a moulded brick dentil cornice and a parapet. The building has sash windows with keystones. Notably, it has a very good early 19th-century shop front, which includes half-round fluted Corinthian pilasters, an enriched cornice, and paterae on the frieze. A plate glass window has been inserted on the right side of the front, with a smaller shop window on the left. The central doorway is round-headed, adorned with an enriched archivolt and a foliated keystone. This building, along with Conyer's Filling Station and Nos 1 to 7 (odd), forms a group with the listed buildings in Market Square and Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and the Crown and Anchor Public House.
