Description

This is a three-storey, three-window building located in Market Place, dating from after 1731. It is part of a group of listed buildings in Market Place and West Street, and a separate group with buildings in Salisbury Street. The front of the building is divided into three sections; the central panel is constructed of red brick, while the sides are of burnt grey brick with red dressings. Stone quoins and moulded strings are present, topped by an enriched modillion cornice with a central pediment. The central windows on the first and second floors have moulded architraves and differently shaped segmental heads, while the other windows are distinguished by triple keystones. A Victorian shop front is present, featuring iron cresting. Inside, a first-floor room retains fielded panelling and a fireplace. Remnants of an 18th century staircase are also recorded.
