Description

This is a three-storey, three-window building dating after 1731. It is similar in style to other buildings in the Market Place. The building features a cornice and later Georgian sash windows with triple keystones. A dormer with flanking scrolls is likely not original. The modern plate glass shop front and stall riser are set within early to mid-19th century casing featuring fluted pilasters. Original 18th century fireplaces remain, as does the upper section of the original staircase. The building is part of a group that includes the other listed buildings in Market Place and numbers 59 to 73 (odd) East Street, Conyers Filling Station, numbers 1 to 7 (odd), numbers 2 to 8 (even) and number 12 West Street, and the Church of St Peter and St Paul. Numbers 1 to 7 (odd) also form a group with numbers 1 and 3 Salisbury Road.
