Description
17, 18, 19 and 20 Main Road is a row of cottages built in the late 18th to early 19th century. The cottages feature stone walls, thatched roofs, and brick chimney stacks. They are one storey high with attics. No. 17 has a modern ledged door, and its ground floor includes two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The attic has one similar window located under the eaves. At the east end, there is a single-storey lean-to with a catslide roof.
Nos. 18 and 19 both have ledged doors set under stone lintels with projecting keystones. Each of these cottages has a horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars and shutters on the ground floor, also under similar stone lintels. Their attics contain two similar windows under the eaves. No. 20 features a ledged door beneath a stone lintel with a projecting keystone, one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars and shutters on the ground floor under a similar lintel, and one similar window in the attic under the eaves.
