Description
Churchfield House and West Cottage are two-storey buildings with origins likely dating back to the 18th century. They were formerly known as the Red Lion Inn. The structures feature stone walls, some of which are plastered, and have tiled roofs with brick stacks.
Churchfield House has a ledged door located in a plastered porch that has a parapetted gabled roof. On the ground floor, there is one double-hung sash window and one horizontally sliding sash window, both with glazing bars. The first floor contains three double-hung sash windows, also with glazing bars. The main room on the ground floor includes a large open fireplace with a curing chamber.
West Cottage features a modern porch that resembles the one on Churchfield House. Its ground floor has two double-hung sash windows with a central bar only, while the first floor has two casement windows with glazing bars. One of the ground floor fireplaces in West Cottage has an 18th-century moulded timber surround. Both buildings have modern rear extensions and were under repair at the time of the survey.
