Description

Mill Farm House is a former watermill, mill house, and cottage that has been converted into a single house. The mill and mill house date back to the 17th century, while the cottage was built in the mid-19th century. The building features rubble stone walls with brick dressings on the cottage and tiled roofs with stone eaves courses on the mill and mill house. The mill house is three storeys tall, while the mill and cottage are two storeys. The layout is L-shaped, with the mill house at the center, which has a date stone indicating 1793, likely marking an alteration.

The south range, which adjoins the mill, has one casement window with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. The north range, adjoining the cottage, has two casement windows with glazing bars on each floor, with the ground floor window replacing a former door. Inside, the main room on the ground floor features a large open fireplace with a curved timber lintel and a bread oven. The mill has a panelled door, and the ground floor, which is below ground level, has two shuttered openings and two casement windows with glazing bars. There is a blocked opening for a former wheel pit at the right end, which has a cambered timber lintel and a relieving arch above it. The first floor has three casement windows with glazing bars, and there is a 20th-century stone stack at the right end, along with a small casement window at mezzanine level on the left end. A 20th-century cart port extension is located on the right side. Although there is no machinery present, some part of the framing and shute remains. The 19th-century cottage in the north wing features a panelled door with a hood, one sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, and two similar windows on the first floor.
