Description
There are two headstones for the Crago family located approximately 20 meters east of All Hallows Church of Saint Kea. The northern stone commemorates John Crago and Catherine, the daughter of James Crago, while the southern stone, dated 1812, is for James, the husband of Catherine Crago. Both headstones were crafted by Floyd of Truro and are made of slate, featuring monolithic designs with cavetto corners and nowy heads. The west faces of the stones display incised fat face lettering. John Crago died at the age of 88, Catherine at 24, and James Crago at 58. The current church, built in 1896, replaced an earlier church from 1802 designed by James Wyatt, and the churchyard has been in use since then. Very few tomb monuments from the earlier church at Old Kea remain, making the modest early 19th-century monuments in this churchyard historically significant for the parish.
