Description
Butterwell is a wellhouse located 80 metres to the south-west of Worthyvale Manor, likely built in the 19th century. It is constructed from slate stone rubble and is set into the side of a steeply sloping bank at the edge of a lake below Worthyvale Manor. The wellhouse has a rectangular plan, with the left and rear walls built into the bank, while the right wall is made of slate stone rubble that has been partly rebuilt. The roof is covered with a large slab of slate, and inside, there is a rectangular shallow basin with a slate shelf at the rear.
