Description

Greatwood Quay is a quay dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from vertically-set dry slatestone with dressed granite copings, which are linked by iron staples. The quay features a round-ended projection that extends at right angles to the river bank, widening as the walling aligns with the bank. This quay served as a landing stage for Greatwood House. It is a very simple yet complete example of an 18th-century quay, located in a picturesque area of unspoilt wooded coastline.
