Description

Little Trehan Farmhouse is a mid-17th century building that has been altered since its original construction. It is built of pointed rubble with a modern slate roof, and has an extruded and stepped rubble chimney on the right side. The windows are arranged irregularly, with wooden lintels above the ground floor openings and three-light Yorkshire casements. A ramp provides access to the front door, accommodating the slope of the ground. A lower, single-storey wing extends to the south. The rear of the farmhouse features a hip-roofed stair turret, a pointed and chamfered doorway, and a lateral chimney. The interior follows a through-passage plan. The ground floor main room contains a wide fireplace with an inserted carved lintel, originally used as a gatepost in Shillingham. A spiral staircase is situated to the right of the fireplace.
