Description

The remains of fish cellars and net lofts located at the middle and east of the beach in Polkerris date from the 18th century. These structures consist of roofless walls made of attractive stone rubble, featuring window openings at the top that create a battlement-like appearance. The central section of the walls is slightly advanced, and these are believed to be the largest pilchard curing cellars in Cornwall. The site is included for its group value, as it contributes to the overall character of the village, which contains several listed buildings.
