Description
This is a barn located 5 meters northwest of Trewornan, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and features a rag slate roof with hipped ends, along with a rear wing that also has a hipped end. The barn is rectangular in shape and was likely designed with a shippon on the ground floor and a threshing floor above. Originally, a water wheel was attached to the rear wing, which housed the threshing machinery.
The front of the barn has an asymmetrical layout with four windows and shows signs of rebuilding. On the ground floor, there are two 4 over 8 pane sash windows, a plank door to the right of center, and double doors to the right. The first floor features three double openings with shutters and threshing doors to the left of center, along with two rows of pigeon holes beneath the eaves. The rear elevation includes stone rubble steps leading up to the loft on the right side and the remains of the water mill on the left.
Inside, there is a thick stone rubble dividing wall to the left of center that extends to the apex. The water wheel has been removed from the rear wing, but much of the hybrid machinery from the mid to late 19th century for the undershot wheel remains intact.
