Hill Chest Tomb And 2 Other Chest Tombs About 3 Metres South East Of The Chancel Of The Church Of St Morwenna

The Hill chest tomb and two other chest tombs are located about 3 meters southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Morwenna. This group of three chest tombs includes the Hill memorial, which dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, and a memorial to the west of the Hill memorial from the early 17th century. The westernmost memorial is probably from the late 18th century.

Constructed from freestone ashlar and slate, these rectangular chests feature inscribed slate lids. The easternmost chest commemorates John Hill, who died in 1697, and Martha Hill, who died in 1714, with angel heads carved in the spandrels on the lid. The tomb to the west of the Hill memorial has an illegible inscription carved on the border of the lid, with a legible date of 1632. The third and westernmost chest tomb has an illegible inscription, and the date may be 1792.
