Description
The chapel immediately to the east of Shillingham Farmhouse is a ruined 14th-century structure that was once part of a larger great house, which stood to the northeast. The north, south, and east walls of the chapel remain, constructed from rubble. The west wall may be the gable that has now been incorporated into the southeast end of the farmhouse, featuring a pair of foil-headed lancets. There are two windows on the north side and one on the south. One of the windows on the north side still retains its tracery from around 1300. Inside, there are image-brackets on either side of the east window, as well as two well-preserved piscinae. Fragments of the chapel, including tracery, can be found scattered in the adjoining garden, along with a stone cider press and a granite pig salting tank.
