Description

Abbey Basin quays and slipway are located in Penzance and date from the early to mid-19th century. The quays are made of dressed granite and are situated on the north, west, and south sides of Abbey Basin. There is also a slipway and granite bollards on the west side. The later causeway and the 1881 Ross Swing Bridge, which was rebuilt in 1981, on the east side of Abbey Basin are not included in this listing. Additionally, the 1900 dry dock on the south side and Abbey Warehouse on the west side are listed separately. This site is part of a notably complete group of harbour structures in Penzance.
