Description

This chest tomb, located approximately 15 meters southeast of the Church of Saint Mylor, dates from 1793 and commemorates George Wauchope, who died at the age of 60. It features granite ashlar sides and a granite lid with a moulded border that frames a slate insert. The slate insert has an incised inscription and a moulded border. The tomb is rectangular in shape. The epitaph reads: "Let his errors rest in peace, his excellence deserve admiration; let me with the wife admire his Wisdom; let the Envious and the Ignorant ridicule his foibles, the folly of others is ever more ridiculous to those who are themselves more Foolish."
