Description
Merther Uny Mill is a water mill dating from the 18th century, with extensions made in the 19th century. The original rear wheel-pit wall is constructed from granite ashlar, while the rest of the building is made of granite rubble. The roof is partly covered with cedar shingles and features gable ends. The mill has a rectangular plan, with the older section on the right, which is roofless, and the 19th-century section on the left that includes an integral rear outshut. The front wall is likely from the 19th century and has been partly rebuilt. There are sockets for former machinery located in the rear left-hand corner of the older part.
The exterior is single storey, although it may have originally been two storeys. The irregular east front has a doorway at the far left and another towards the right. There is an early 19th-century 12-pane horizontally-sliding sash window on the left, along with blocked window openings on either side of the right-hand doorway.
Inside, no surviving machinery is visible, and the roofed part has not been inspected. Approximately 4 metres west of the wheel-pit wall, there is a dressed granite pier, which presumably supported the former launder from the leat.
