Description

This is an early 19th century row of five small houses, located in Clarence Street, Penzance. The houses are rendered in stucco and feature a single string course. The windows are set within recessed architraves, with small sill aprons. The roofs are covered with slates, incorporating hipped ends and a panelled eaves soffit. The buildings are two storeys high. Most of the windows are sash windows with glazing bars. Number 2 has an attractive two-storey segmental bow window. Number 3 has late 19th century square bay windows. Numbers 1 and 4 have porches supported by Tuscan columns and featuring entablatures with flat cornices. Number 5 contains a 19th or 20th century glazed porch. Three hipped dormers are visible. Numbers 1 to 5 form a notable group with numbers 1 to 6 in Clarence Place, and Clarence Cottage.
