Description
This barn, located approximately 5 meters south-east of the Manor Farmhouse, was originally a coastguard's store and dates back to 1882. It is constructed from slatestone rubble, featuring granite quoins and jambstones, and has a half-hipped roof made of Burlington slate. The barn has a rectangular plan with one room and two storeys.
The south-west front includes a wide slatestone flight of steps positioned to the left of the center. There is a round brick arched opening leading to a well under the landing, a wide segmental brick arched opening to the right, and a small window with a granite lintel on the far right. The eaves have two rows of dove holes.
On the north-west wall, there is a wide central segmental arched doorway with granite voussoirs and a projecting keystone, along with a narrower first-floor opening above it that has a brick arch. Additional dove holes are also present under the eaves. Inside, the barn retains its original floor structure and roof, which incorporates reused ships timbers, some featuring treenails and several spars, with some still equipped with pulleys. The barn is included for its group value.
