Description

The Gover Railway Viaduct spans the Gover Valley on the St Austell to Truro line. The original viaduct was constructed in 1859, and its stone rubble piers remain alongside the later viaduct built in 1898. The 1859 piers are rectangular in shape, battered, and feature weathered buttresses. The 1898 viaduct is made of granite rubble and includes eight round arches, with rectangular piers that are corbelled and battered. The arches are adorned with brick dressings and a brick parapet. The viaduct holds significant landscape value, with its eastern half located in St Austell within the Fowey district.
