Description
Ann Collin Limited and Keeler Dispensing Opticians are a pair of houses that have been converted into shops, dating from the early 19th century. The buildings feature painted render over rubble and have a slate roof. They stand three storeys high, with three bays on the right side and two bays on the left.
No 16 has one surviving ground floor pilaster, a shop front with a granite dado, and a central entrance that is inward canted. The first floor has three plate glass sash windows set in lugged architrave frames, while the second floor has three plate glass sash windows in plain frames.
No 16A features two inserted 20th-century windows within the two former window openings that had lugged architraves, which are now joined as one and partially filled in. The first floor has two replacement 20th-century windows. A shop front was inserted around 1985.
The two shops are visually connected by a pair of panelled end pilasters and a projecting modillion cornice.
