Description

The well beside the path leading to St Michael's Mount is a medieval structure made of granite rubble and dressed granite. It is a shallow well situated over a spring and was formerly the only source of fresh water for St Michael's Mount. The well features a paved and cobbled terrace with granite-faced retaining walls behind it, and dressed granite slabs cover the well itself. It is located next to an ancient cobbled path that leads to the Mount. This site is reputed to be the legendary location where 'Jack the Giant Killer' trapped and killed the Giant Cormoran.
