Description

Trehole Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was partly remodeled around the 19th century and has 20th-century additions. The building is constructed of rendered slatestone and cob, with slate roofs that have been partially renewed. The main range is one room deep and features gable end stacks, with a brick chimney on the left gable end and a cob chimney on the right gable end. There is a projecting wing at the rear left, creating an L-shaped plan. The left side of the range appears to have been extended or possibly remodeled in the 19th century, and there is a 19th-century addition at the rear right, along with further extensions to the rear of the wing and the rear left of the main range.

The farmhouse is two stories high and has a three-window range, including a 20th-century glazed porch with a corrugated plastic roof. On the ground floor, there are two windows with renewed casements. The first-floor windows on the left and center are renewed two-light casements set under what are likely re-used granite lintels. The central window retains its hook hinges, while the right first-floor window is a late 18th-century two-light casement. The right side of the main range features a three-light hollow-chamfered mullioned granite window on the ground floor and a three-light casement with some square leaded panes on the first floor.

Inside, the ground floor room on the right has chamfered ceiling beams with straight cut stops, and a fireplace with a chamfered granite lintel that is now painted gloss black. The exposed principals in the two-bay rear wing are halved and face pegged. There is also an oven located at the right gable end of the main range.
