Description
A mill, dating to around the late 18th century, was later extended in the early 20th century to the rear and to the left-hand gable. It was converted into a dwelling in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of rubblestone with a slate roof and prominent stone stacks with brick shafts at each gable end. A rubblestone extension with a corrugated lean-to roof is present on the left-hand gable.
Originally two storeys high, it was subsequently raised to three. The west front is symmetrical and has two windows. A central six-panelled door, protected by a timber lintel, is flanked by two windows: a two-light window of around 1900 on the right and a two-light window of around 1890 on the left, both with glazing bars. Above these are two further two-light windows, also dating from around 1890, each with six panes of glazing bars. A slate hood marks the point where the roof was raised between the first and second floors. Smaller two-light windows, dating from around 1890 and with six panes each, are positioned above. A lean-to is attached to the left-hand gable, featuring a stable door with a window above under a timber lintel, and a 20th-century window to the left. Further 20th-century windows are found in the left-hand gable end. A former clom oven projection is visible on the right-hand gable end.
The interior of the mill was not inspected when the listing was made. Historic records suggest a wheel was originally situated between the mill and the ruined foundations of a smaller building.
