Description
Red Store is a warehouse and boat store dating from the early 19th century. It is built from rubblestone and features a scantle slate roof with hipped ends. The building has two storeys and a basement, with an almost symmetrical south front. There are six granite steps leading up to a central plank door, which is flanked by two square openings that are boarded up. To the left of the centre, there are later rubble stone and granite steps that rise to a first-floor entrance, creating a porch over the ground floor entrance.
On the right-hand end (east) of the basement, there is an opening under a timber lintel that leads to the boat store, along with a small square opening to the basement on the left side. On the river side to the north, there are two openings with timber shutters on both the ground and first floors. The warehouse was used to store corn, fertilizer, and other goods in connection with the port of Lerryn, which operated until the early 20th century. The building is situated on the south bank of the River Lerryn, east of a converted boathouse and quay.
