Description

Prinz House is a farmhouse, now a private house and shop, dating to the 1840s. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone with a slate roof and brick stacks in the gabled ends. The building has two rooms in depth with a wide central vestibule. A leanto dairy and store are located on the right-hand gable end.

The front facade has an asymmetrical two-window arrangement, set above a granite plinth. On the ground floor, there is a 16-pane sash without horns to the left and a late 19th-century shop window on the right, featuring simple corbelled brackets and a shallow hood. A central four-panel door is framed by an elaborate Roman Doric doorcase, with flanking pilasters surmounted by an entablature with triglyphs. Above the ground floor windows are two further 16-pane sashes without horns. The right-hand gable end includes the leanto, which has 16-pane sashes on both ground and first floors. The sash windows have moulded boxes.

The front room on the right contains plasterwork with acanthus leaves and egg and dart motifs, alongside a cornice and marble fireplace. The rear room on the left features a plasterwork cornice with acanthus leaves and a white marble fireplace with an arched opening and heavy brackets. The upper floor and roof were not inspected.
