Description

The churchyard cross, located 10 metres south of the Church of St Michael in Lesnewth, is a medieval structure made of granite. It features a wheel head with a raised Maltese cross on the east side, while the west side is defaced. The granite shaft was recorded in the 19th century as modern. The wheel head was recovered from the ground east of the churchyard in 1872 and restored. Historian Sir J. Maclean suggests that the original shaft may stand at Waterpit Down, approximately 200 metres to the west of Hallwell Barton Bungalow in Forrabury and Minster.
