Description
The Watch Tower Studio and former Lifeboat Shed, originally the Looe lifeboat house and watchtower, is a former lifeboat house and watchtower that is now used for commercial purposes. It was built around 1860.
The building is constructed from rubble with granite quoins, red-brick arches, and flush strings. It features dry slate roofs with projecting eaves that have exposed moulded rafter ends and purlins, along with crested red ridge-tiles. The structure has a T-shaped plan and is designed in the Italianate style.
The exterior includes a two-storey tower and a single-storey lifeboat shed. There are round-arched single-light windows, except for a group of three lights on the first floor of the tower. At the rear of the lifeboat house, there is a large three-light transomed window under a segmental arch. The front doorway is also under a similar arch and features an original transomed fanlight above part-glazed doors. The tower gables have oculae.
The interior is simple where it has been inspected.
