Description

Wivelscombe Manor is a 17th-century manor house that has been altered and extensively remodelled in modern times. It is arranged in an ā€˜L’ shape. The building is clad in slate and has a slate roof, half-hipped to the east. It has three windows to the front and two to the rear, featuring modern five-light casement windows and three hipped dormers. A doorway on the east side, within the garden, has a chamfered segmental head and a stopped surround made of granite. Two gabled extensions project to the west; the southern extension features carved granite heads above a ground-floor opening, likely dating from around 1700. The manor is approached by steps flanked by sphinxes made of composition material and heraldic lions.
