Description
The Boathouse is a Grade II listed building located in St Germans, dating from the mid to late 19th century, and incorporating earlier features with 20th-century repairs. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with granite quoins and dressings, topped with a two-span thatched roof featuring gable ends. The boathouse has a rectangular plan, with the left gable end facing the slipway to the River Tiddy.
The exterior is single-storey and includes porches at both the front and rear. The front features a central blind doorway framed by a re-used hollow-chamfered granite doorframe with a rounded head, and a thatched gabled porch supported by wooden piers. There are blocked ventilation slits on either side. The left end has a double doorway with a granite lintel, while the right end features a central doorway with a re-used granite frame, which has a chamfered, four-centred arch, and a 20th-century door with cover strips. The rear also has a blind central doorway with a re-used granite frame and a thatched gabled porch, along with blocked ventilation slits on either side.
