Stable About 10 Metres North Of The Old Rectory

The stable located about 10 metres north of the Old Rectory, now a house, was built around 1858 by William Butterfield and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed from slatestone rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and a gable end at the rear, while the front has a half-hipped design. The building has an axial stack with a stone shaft.

The stable is L-shaped, with a coach house at the front and a short wing extending to the rear right. The rear room is heated by the axial stack. The exterior is single-storey with a loft. The front has wooden boarding that replaces the original coach door, flanked by buttresses on either side, with a 20th-century window above. The left side features a gable end and two narrow 20th-century windows at ground level in the original openings, along with a 20th-century window with a two-centred relieving arch at the upper level in the gable. On the right side, there is a large 20th-century window to the left and a 20th-century conservatory set in the angle of the rear wing. The right end has a 20th-century window with a two-centred arch. The rear includes a porch with a plank door and three 20th-century windows to the right.

Although some details have been altered, the overall form of the building remains intact, and it is positioned at an angle to the Rectory, creating an asymmetrical group.
