Description

The Cookworthy monument is a chest tomb located about 4 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St Mary in Sheviock. It dates from the 17th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge set on a rubble base. There is a carved border on the top, but the inscription is now illegible. It commemorates George, the son of Richard Cookworthy of Salcombe and Margaret, who died in 1668.
