Description
The Old Weighbridge is a weighbridge house from the late 19th century, associated with a former coalyard that served the china clay and mining industry. The front is made of painted brick, while the sides are constructed from killas rubble, topped with a rag slate roof and a brick stack on the left. The building has a small rectangular single-cell plan. It features a wide front window with an original central light, a pair of 6-pane lights to the left, and a 20th-century 4-light transomed window on the right. The right-hand side has an original 4-pane horned sash window. Inside, the building contains the weighbridge controls and other original fittings. This structure played a significant role in the operations of this china clay port.
