Description
The Edwards monument and railings, located in the churchyard about 10 metres east of the south aisle of the Church of St Mewan, is a chest tomb dating from the early 19th century, accompanied by railings from the late 19th century. The tomb is made of granite and slate, while the railings are crafted from cast iron.
The tomb itself is a plain rectangular structure made from granite rubble, featuring a slate inscription plate on top that commemorates John Edwards, who passed away in 1804, along with valedictory verses. Surrounding the tomb is a chamfered granite plinth that encloses a square area, which is bordered by plain cast iron railings that include a mid rail and trefoil finials at the corners.
