Description
Restormel Cottage is a house dating from around 1800, with few later alterations. It features a front made of slatestone rubble that is rendered, with a re-used granite doorway. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and there are two stacks located at the rear. The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance and a two-storey service wing at the rear, which has a one-room plan. Each of the front rooms is heated by a stack at the rear. The house is designed in a Gothic style.
The building is two storeys high and has two windows on the front. The ground floor features a central doorway with a four-centred arch, made of chamfered granite, and includes a four-panelled door with a fanlight above. There are round-arched windows on either side of the doorway, which have Y-tracery and three-pane casements. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements with toplights and a small circular light in the centre. The parapet wall slopes down to the right and left, about one metre high.
The right side of the cottage has a ground floor window similar to those on the front, and a first floor two-light casement with a segmental head to the toplight. The left side features a buttress and a single-storey lean-to at the ground floor, with a similar two-light casement on the first floor. The rear of the building has a gabled two-storey wing with brick quoins, a two-light casement on both the ground and first floors with brick surrounds, a 20th-century single light window at the ground floor on the left side, and another two-light casement at the ground floor on the rear right. The interior has not been inspected.
