Description
Hingham Millhouse is a millhouse that likely dates from the 18th century and was extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a rag slate roof that has a gable end on the left and a half hipped end on the right. There are brick stacks at both ends. The building has a two-room layout with a cross or through passage, heated by the end stacks, and it was extended to the rear in the late 20th century with a parallel two-storey range.
The exterior features two storeys and a regular three-window front. There is a circa 19th century plank door with a lean-to hood, flanked by two 20th century windows. On the first floor, there are three 19th century two-light casements. The millhouse is located very close to Hingham Mill.
